Futures and Frosting: A Sugarcoated Happily Ever After: 2

Futures and Frosting - Tara Sivec First off, I have to say I LOVE this series and Tara Sivec's voice. Her characters all seem to think like I do which makes me biased when reviewing her books. That being said, I very much enjoyed this book! I discovered Sivec over the summer, when a fellow blogger said she devoured the first book, Seduction and Snacks, in two hours. As this blogger has the same taste in books as I do, I immediately purchased it. And LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it. :) And Futures and Frosting was just as enjoyable. When reading books in a series, there is always that fear that the current read won't live up to the first one. And in this case, I need not have worried. Picking up not too long after S&S, Futures and Frosting showed Claire and Carter settling into life as a live-in couple. I loved the fact that Sivec showed that living together is not always perfect, all to often I read romances where the couples get married and move in and life is just one big assed fairy tale. I thought Sivec did a wonderful job of representing a couple's life together and the constant work it takes. Especially when you add in friends and family who are crazy in their own right and only want to help. I don't want to give away too many details because you have to read the book to fully appreciate it. Sivec's humor is not for everyone. I enjoyed it because it was kind of humor seen in my family. My alcohol lovin', foul mouthed and very inappropriate middle class family. Sivec writes about the type of people I want to read about. The type of people who don't have it all together, who are trying to do the best they can with what they got, and find it's easier to go crazy in a group than all alone. If there were any editing errors or characterization mistakes, I didn't notice them. The humor of the dialogue and the character's actions made me oblivious to any faults that may have been present. This is definitely going on my favorites list for the year.
