Full review at Tempting ReadsHaving finished it, I can see why the publishers would market The Red Diary for fans of "The Numbered Book That Shall Not Be Named". There was none of the "domination" tendencies of Fifty Shades or the tortured hero who act like an asshole because he has "issues", which definitely worked in this book's favor. It had an element of eroticism, presented as diary entries, that were detailed and extremely sexual, but nothing I couldn't find in traditional romances. There was an element of over dramatic life/family drama added in as well; numerous rich people in name brand everything, crazy sex orgies, cheating spouses, crooked business partners and associates. Those familiar with romances of the early 90's from authors like Stella Cameron or Nora Roberts will know what I'm talking about.
